Receiving The Circle – Journeys of the Scholar Warrior
by
David J. Weinberg
"I felt like I was on a journey of enlightenment through this well written book. I could
have never written a book so well on my own teaching philosophy and method as
David Weinberg has done here." Sensei Peter Freedman, Founder of the Freedman
Method Ketsugo Jujutsu System; Guro Director of the Boston Arnis Club; and Reiki
master
"For many years now, I have searched for a way to fill in the gaps, both spiritual and technical, left in the wake of Bruce Lee's premature death. Freedman's Method and
'Receiving the Circle' have pointed me in the right direction. The principles of the art are perfectly in line with, and a logical extension of, Jeet Kune Do. And this book's bigger-picture approach to the martial arts will change the way you see the world."
Teri Tom, Board member of the Bruce Lee Foundation and Author of The Straight
Lead: The Core of Bruce Lee’s Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do
Back Cover:
Just as the art of the Samurai once helped provide stability during Feudal Japan’s most violent and tumultuous period of history, through the modern day teachings of Sensei Peter Freedman, the ancient warrior art of Jujutsu is being called upon once again to offer practical tools and renewed hope as we face a battered world overrun by teenage drug abuse, ethnic and religious strife, corporate disillusionment, and global terrorism. The universal martial art principles addressed in Receiving The Circle can be utilized to help us rise above the obstacles of everyday life and gain a more intimate connection with our higher self and the surrounding world we inhabit.
Inside Jacket:
Concerned that many martial artists were merely memorizing fossilized katas, dead techniques, or positional strategies, Sensei Peter Freedman developed a revolutionary holistic teaching approach that reveals the underlying principles of Jujutsu so students of Budo or the way of the warrior can become more effective martial artists and gain a deeper understanding of martial science.
Just as every master at one time formulated his or her own techniques and individual style of martial arts, to this day Sensei Freedman guides his students to do the same.
Freedman’s teachings divulge the esoteric paradox of the martial arts, not as a way of fighting, but as a way of higher thinking and a way of peaceful living. Balance, creativity, and adaptability are the essence of Freedman’s Method Ketsugo Jujutsu.
